Climbing Square Ledge with Northeast Mountaineering

We have tried our hand at a number of different climbing adventures this season: Giant jungle gyms to indoor bouldering rooms. It was time to put our developing skills to the test. We called our friends at Northeast Mountaineering (NEM) and asked if they knew of a good place for our first climb. Not only did they know of a place, but they graciously outfitted us with all the necessary gear and a top notch guide named Noah. Noah was not only a great instructor, but he has a ton of world class experience, including a climb in Patagonia that entailed getting dropped off by a plane, then hiking 20 hours a day for a week straight just get to the climbing spot! Talk about determined.

Indoor Ascent (rock climbing intro)

Our introduction to rock climbing couldn’t have come from a better place than Indoor Ascent. Indoor Ascent is a 9000 square foot indoor climbing gym located at 47 Broadway in Dover, New Hampshire about 20 minutes from Portsmouth. Indoor climbing is a great way to stay active in the winter. It’s a fun and exhilarating way to stay in shape by getting an extreme core body workout. Oh to have a good climbing gym near us! Not only that but it’s a great place to bring the kids for a few hours.

Part 2 of our Summer Adventure Series covers a couple more awesome activities we found at Weirs Beach on Lake Winnipesaukee, NH. Both were extreme height adventures. One involved hanging from a parachute 400 feet in the air and the other one had us leaping off a 40′ platform onto a giant airbag!

Weir’s Beach (part 1)

If you are in New England you should seriously check out Weirs Beach on Lake Winnipesaukee, New Hampshire for some awesome adventures. The word is out that there is plenty to do in NH if you’re looking to check some items off your bucket list, and since our bucket list seems to only grow no matter how many items we check off, it seemed wise to make the best of our free time and head over and see what we could find.
